Comparison

The ManyChat alternative
that answers your customers for you.

Outlearn is an AI support agent that reads the documentation your company already keeps, in Confluence, Google Drive, SharePoint or your help center, and answers customer questions from it with the sources attached. It re-reads those systems every 30 minutes, so the answers move when your docs move. ManyChat reaches people. Outlearn answers them.

And let's be straight about the other half: if you want Instagram DM automation, ManyChat is the best tool for it and you should buy ManyChat. It's a chat-marketing platform and it doesn't pretend otherwise. Most people hunting a ManyChat alternative are here because of the first job: a customer asked how the product works, and an AI that reads "text and public links" couldn't say. This page splits the two jobs honestly, prices and weaknesses included, theirs and ours.

vs
ManyChat
The meter
Counts answers, not audience

ManyChat bills every person a message or automation reaches. Outlearn bills the replies it wrote, so growing your following doesn't raise the bill.

Reads your real documentation
20 systems, files included

ManyChat's AI Knowledge takes text and public links only. Outlearn reads Confluence, SharePoint, Drive, Box, GitHub, Slack, Teams and your help center.

No team ceiling
Unlimited people, $0 each

ManyChat's top plan caps at 10 users, extra inbox seats $25. Outlearn doesn't charge per seat or cap them.

Instagram and TikTok automation
Zero on Outlearn

No comment-to-DM, no broadcasts, no Meta partnership. If social DM marketing is the job, ManyChat wins and it isn't close.

Outlearn is the support half of this comparison: an AI agent you connect to the places your answers already sit, Confluence, SharePoint, Google Drive, GitHub, your helpdesk, twenty systems in all, and it does the answering in chat, email and Slack. It can look up an order or reset a license against your own API, and anything that needs judgment lands on your team with the full conversation.

ManyChat

ManyChat is a chat-marketing platform for social DMs: Instagram, TikTok, Messenger, Telegram, WhatsApp, SMS and email, with comment-to-DM automation, broadcasts, a shared inbox, and Manychat AI on Pro plans and above. Their homepage title is "Chat Marketing Made Easy with Manychat", their headline is "Social smarter, not harder", their stated buyers are creators and social-first businesses, and the words customer support, help desk, ticket and CSAT appear zero times on their pricing page. None of that is a dig. It's a well-run product built for a different job. The catch is just that its meter and its AI are built for that job too.

ManyChat's meter counts people you can reach, because growing an audience is the job. Outlearn's counts replies the AI wrote, because answering questions is the job. Neither is wrong. They measure different work, and if you take one sentence away from this ManyChat alternative comparison, take that one.

Outlearn vs ManyChat at a glance

These two products barely overlap, so this table draws the line between two jobs instead of keeping score. Both do AI replies, human handoff and an inbox of some kind; parity teaches you nothing, so those rows are out. What's left is what a ManyChat alternative shortlist actually turns on.

The grid shows Helpjuice, Box, Confluence, Dropbox, Freshworks, GitHub, Gmail, Google Chat, Google Drive, Help Scout, Helpdocs, Intercom, KnowledgeOwl, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Salesforce, SharePoint, Slack, Zendesk and Zendesk Guide

This is Outlearn's add-sources screen, everything the agent can learn from: twenty systems under Auto-Sync Sources, plus Files and Website URL as manual imports. Connect the two or three you actually use and it just keeps reading them from then on. ManyChat's knowledge layer, in its own words, accepts text and public links; this grid is the size of that difference.

Where Outlearn and ManyChat actually differ

01

What support looks like once the docs do the answering

Your answers already exist. They're in Confluence, SharePoint, Google Drive, OneDrive, Box, Dropbox, GitHub, Slack, Teams, Gmail, Salesforce or your own knowledge base. Connect them once and Outlearn re-reads them every 30 minutes, so a renamed plan, a new refund rule or a changed price reaches its answers inside the half hour, 3am ones included, and nobody on your team becomes the person who feeds the bot.

50.4% of conversations get solved by Outlearn automatically, and the moment one hands off, the meter stops on it. Every answer ships with a sources chip, so when someone asks what your product costs, they get the number and the three articles it came from, not a paraphrase from memory.

And it knows who it's talking to: customers get the public answers, your own people get the internal ones, and you don't have to worry about who sees what. When the question is really a task, a refund, an order status, a license reset, it calls your own API right there in the conversation and gets it done. The hard ones go to your team in one of eight helpdesks, Zendesk and Intercom included, whole conversation attached, so nobody starts over.

If you're grading a ManyChat alternative, grade it on that: fewer questions reaching your team, answers that cite their sources, a bill that tracks the work.

Answers you can audit
Outlearn agent chat. The visitor asks what Helpjuice is and how much it costs. The agent replies with what the product does, then a pricing paragraph quoting $249 a month for the entry plan and a free 14-day trial, then offers a trial link or a plan recommendation. A chip reading 3 Sources sits below the reply

This is the agent answering a live pricing question: a real number, a trial offer, and a 3 Sources chip under the reply. Open the chip and you get the three articles it read. If an answer ever looks off, you check it in one click, fix the doc, and the answer follows within the half hour.

02

Two meters, and the meter is how you tell the jobs apart

ManyChat charges per Active Contact, and their definition is admirably plain: "One person = one Active Contact for the month." Read what that rewards. Talking to one person forty times is free after the first. Reaching forty thousand people once is expensive. That's a meter for an audience business, and for a creator sending a link to new followers it's exactly right.

Outlearn charges per AI reply, which rewards the opposite: cheap to serve a huge audience who mostly never ask anything, expensive when one person needs a long conversation. A meter for a support business. And theirs is kinder than ours in three ways, out loud: a person costs one unit however many times the AI fumbles, crossing your limit doesn't cut service, and upgrading mid-cycle forgives what you owe. Ours bills every reply it writes.

Neither is a trick. But the two bills move in opposite directions, which decides more than any feature list, and it's the first thing to check on any ManyChat alternative. If your follower count climbs faster than your question count, ManyChat's bill grows and ours doesn't. If your conversations get longer and more technical, ours grows and theirs doesn't.

One of their own reviewers, quoted further down, put it better than we can: "It goes up as you have more and more followers but i dont want to send anything to my new followers." That isn't bad software. That's somebody discovering they're on a meter built for a job they're not doing. ManyChat reaches people. Outlearn answers them.

03

What ManyChat's AI is actually allowed to read

If a customer asked something and the AI couldn't answer it, this section is why. Every sentence in it is from ManyChat's own help center.

Two content types. Verbatim, from their AI Knowledge documentation: "At the moment, the Knowledge Base supports two types of content: text and public links." No files, so anything inside a PDF is unreachable. No crawl, because "the system scans individual pages, not entire websites". A hundred-article docs site is a hundred manual entries, each capped at 250,000 characters.

Nothing behind a login either, and there's a published blocklist of platforms it can't scan at all, Google Docs and Sheets included.

And it's Instagram only, in beta. Both articles say so as of August 2026: "This feature is currently available only for the Instagram channel", and "Manychat AI is currently in beta." On WhatsApp, Messenger, TikTok, SMS and email, the documented knowledge-grounded AI isn't there yet. To their credit, they're open about all of it. It's a young feature, not a broken one. It's just not a documentation engine.

That gap is what Outlearn was built on: twenty connected systems, uploaded files including PDFs, whole-site crawls, and sources behind a login read with your credentials, all of it re-read every 30 minutes. It's the gap most ManyChat alternative searches start from.

It counts its misses in public
Outlearn Knowledge Sources screen. One source row reads Website Crawl - helpjuice.com with a line underneath showing 81 snippets, a green Synced 20 mins ago pill and 4 failed in red. An Accessibility control on the row is set to Public and an In Use toggle is switched on. A live chat preview panel sits on the right

This is the sources dashboard after one connection, a website crawl: 81 snippets, synced 20 minutes ago, and 4 failed pages flagged in red. The red is the point. An agent that quietly skips what it couldn't read is how wrong answers get born, so Outlearn says what it read, when it read it, and what it missed.

04

The prices, and the one thing to get right about them

The numbers on their cards are annual prices. Their own pricing payload carries both: Essential $14 annually against $17 monthly, Pro $29 against $39, Business $69 against $99, Advanced $139 against $199. Any ManyChat alternative page quoting $14 without saying "billed annually" is quoting a number nobody pays month to month. And annual is a commitment: "Annual plans cannot be downgraded until the current annual term ends."

Included contacts per month: 25, 250, 2,500, 7,500 and 25,000 up the ladder. Past that, the annual overage runs $0.082, $0.038, $0.018 and $0.0028 per extra contact, a curve steep enough that at high volume ManyChat is genuinely cheap.

Two gates matter more than the price. AI is off on Free and Essential entirely, so Pro at $29 annually is the real floor. And WhatsApp, SMS and email are unavailable on both, while broadcasts exclude Instagram and TikTok, their two flagship channels.

One contradiction we can't resolve and won't paper over. Their pricing comparison table shows every AI feature included on Pro and above. Their AI product page says "Manychat AI is an add-on to Manychat Pro, and costs $29/month", and their help center refers to "the Manychat AI add-on". Both pages were live the same day, 8 August 2026. Ask them which it is before you budget, because it's the difference between $29 and $58.

And there's a ceiling. Their top published plan allows 10 users and nothing above Advanced exists, so a team of fifteen has no plan to buy. Outlearn doesn't charge per seat or cap how many people you add, which starts to matter exactly when a support tool starts to work.

05

What Outlearn doesn't do

Social DM marketing, at all. No Instagram or TikTok automation, no comment-to-DM, no broadcasts, no Meta partnership. ManyChat is an Official Meta Business Partner and one of very few TikTok partners, they design around Meta's 24-hour reply window, and none of that can be bolted on. If that's the job, skip every ManyChat alternative and keep ManyChat.

And it's not a helpdesk. Outlearn answers and acts; when a conversation needs a person, it hands off into Zendesk, Intercom, Slack, LiveChat and four others rather than replacing the inbox your team already works in.

So the question isn't which product is better. It's what your unanswered messages actually are. If they want a promo code and a link, buy ManyChat. If they ask how your product works, and the answers sit in SharePoint, a GitHub wiki and a help center nobody has time to sync, that job is ours.

What 1,000 people asking one question cost

ManyChat's bill is people reached. Outlearn's is AI replies written. They aren't the same unit, and any ManyChat alternative comparison that prints one price for both is making the math up. So we picked one scenario, said our assumption under the table, and let you change it in the calculator below.

How we calculated this

ManyChat is cheaper here and the table says so plainly. This models 1,000 distinct people each asking one question: 1,000 Active Contacts on their meter, roughly 4,000 AI replies on ours at four per resolution, our assumption rather than measured data. Change the shape and it flips, because ManyChat bills each person once a month however many messages it takes. They're on Pro at $29 because AI is unavailable on Free and Essential; monthly is $39. Whether Manychat AI is included in Pro or is a $29 add-on is unresolved between their own two pages, and if it's an add-on their column doubles.

ManyChat pricing verified 8 August 2026 against their own pricing page.

ManyChat is $170 less at this volume. and they usually will be. ManyChat bills a person once a month however many times you talk to them, so a conversation that takes twenty messages costs them one unit and us twenty. On price this is not a fight we win.

Above about 30 resolutions a month, ManyChat becomes the cheaper of the two.

Outlearn bills one credit per AI reply, so your 1,000 resolutions at 4 replies each is 4,000 credits. ManyChat bills per Active Contact. Annual billing; AI needs Pro or above, and their team ceiling is 10 users. ManyChat prices checked 8 August 2026, ours 7 August 2026.

ManyChat reviews: the anger is about the meter, not the product

Two scores that disagree by more than two points, and the disagreement is the story: Trustpilot has ManyChat at 2.2 from 296 reviews, Software Advice at 4.6 from 72. Both are real. The gap is about billing, not the product, and it's the same complaint that sends most people off to search for a ManyChat alternative in the first place.

Would be useful but the way the pricing works is pretty repulsive. You never know how much you will pay. It goes up as you have more and more followers but i dont want to send anything to my new followers. Finally, i had enough.

How we picked these

Read those three together and the pattern isn't bad software. Two open by calling it useful or great, and the five-star one names the job it's for. What people are angry about is a meter attached to audience size, which is fair enough if you aren't running an audience business. That's the argument of this page, made better by their customers than by us.

How to work out which one you actually need

  1. 1

Read your last hundred unanswered messages

Not your tickets, the messages. If most of them want a link, a discount code or a story reply, that's ManyChat's job. If most of them ask how something works, you're shopping for a ManyChat alternative for the right reason. Keep going.

  2. 2

    Find where the answers live

If the answers live in your head, ManyChat's text box is fine. If they live in Confluence, SharePoint, a Drive folder or a help center, you need a ManyChat alternative that can actually read those, and that's what Outlearn connects to.

  3. 3

    Check which channel matters

ManyChat's knowledge-grounded AI is documented Instagram-only and in beta as of August 2026. If your questions arrive on your website, in email or in Slack, that's where Outlearn answers.

  4. 4

Run both if the answer is both

Where a lot of teams land isn't a ManyChat alternative at all, it's a division of labor: ManyChat keeps your Instagram DMs, Outlearn answers product questions on your site and in your inbox. They aren't competing for the same conversation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best ManyChat alternative in 2026?

It depends which half of ManyChat you're replacing, and for many people the best ManyChat alternative isn't Outlearn.

For Instagram and TikTok DM automation, comment-to-DM and broadcasts, you want another social automation tool: ManyChat leads there and we do none of it. For an AI that answers product questions from your documentation, that's exactly what Outlearn is: twenty systems read live, re-read every 30 minutes, with sources attached.

How much does ManyChat cost?

Their card prices are annual: Free $0 for 25 Active Contacts, Essential $14 for 250, Pro $29 for 2,500, Business $69 for 7,500, Advanced $139 for 25,000.

Billed monthly those are $17, $39, $99 and $199. Past your allowance the annual overage runs from $0.082 down to $0.0028 per contact. Two things to budget for: AI is unavailable on Free and Essential, and their own AI product page calls Manychat AI a $29 a month add-on to Pro while their pricing table shows it included. Ask them which applies before you price any ManyChat alternative against it.

What is a ManyChat Active Contact, and does the AI failing cost me money?

An Active Contact is a person, not a message, so a failed AI answer costs nothing extra.

That's genuinely kinder than our meter, which bills every reply. Their words: one person equals one Active Contact for the month, however many messages you exchange. A contact becomes active when messages move through ManyChat by automation, AI, broadcast or inbox. The catch runs the other way: everyone a broadcast touches is billable, so the bill tracks your audience, not your support volume.

Can ManyChat's AI answer questions from my documentation?

Only in a limited way, by their own documentation, and it's the most common reason people go looking for a ManyChat alternative.

The Knowledge Base supports two content types, text and public links. It can't read uploaded files, so information inside PDFs is unreachable; it doesn't crawl, so each URL is added individually; it can't read anything behind a login; and a published blocklist includes Google Docs and Sheets. As of August 2026, both the Knowledge Base and AI Replies are documented as Instagram-only and marked beta.

Should I use ManyChat or Outlearn for customer support?

Read your last hundred unanswered messages.

If most want a link, a discount code or a reply to a story, that's ManyChat's job and Outlearn does none of it. If most ask how your product works, and the answers live in Confluence or a Drive folder or a help center, that's what Outlearn reads and answers from. Plenty of teams honestly need both, on different channels; a ManyChat alternative doesn't have to replace ManyChat to earn its keep.

Is Outlearn a good ManyChat alternative for Instagram?

No.

Outlearn has no Instagram or TikTok automation, no comment-to-DM and no broadcasts, and we'd rather say that plainly than sell you the wrong tool. What earns Outlearn a place on a ManyChat alternative list is the support job: when the DMs and emails are really product questions, it answers them from your documentation on your website, in email and in Slack, with the sources attached.

Ask it what your customers ask you

Point Outlearn at the places your answers live, your site, a help center, a Drive folder, then ask it the five questions your customers asked yesterday, the real ones with the plan names and the edge cases. If a pasted text box could answer those, you wouldn't be reading a ManyChat alternative page. Keep ManyChat for Instagram; that job stays covered. Free tier, no card, no sales call.
